William T. “Chilly Willie” Mays, age 64, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Kindred Hospital in Lima.

Willie was born March 17, 1954 in Lima, to the late Lennie and Jeanette (Fuqua) Mays. On October 11, 1980 he married Jacqueline (Bailey) Mays who survives in Lima.

Willie enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and LeBron James. Willie was known for his love of hats and how they always matched his outfit.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Mays of Lima; three children, Corrie Bailey of Lima, Charles Bailey of Columbus and Brandi (Carlos) Mays of Lima; fourteen grandchildren, Nehlidjah Bailey, Charles Bailey, Jr., Cameron Bailey, Jordan Hawthorne, Darius Bailey, Rakim Hawthorne, C’Jah Bailey, Jada Bailey, Sheldon Gipson, Jr., Carmelo Mays, Carnell Mays, Colin Bailey, Brandon Mays and Branson Mays; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Luther Mays of Memphis, TN; Danny Mays of Lima and four sisters, Charice (Morris) Little of Memphis, TN, Magnolia (Jimmy) Williams of Lima, Bernice Townsend of Lima and Clara Mays of Memphis, TN.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Mays, Johnny Mays, Lennie Mays , Jr., and a Sister, Romelia Frazier.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Beraki, the staff at Springview Manor and to the Doctors’ and dialysis unit at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Willie.

Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 2018, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Toney Roberts will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 28, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
