William C. “Bill” Wheeler, age 78, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.

Bill was born December 17, 1944, in Lima, OH, to the late Lester W. and Helen L. (Clapper) Wheeler. On February 18, 1967, he married Sharon L. (Holloway) Wheeler.

Bill attended Lima South High School. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Bill retired in 2007 from the Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant after 38 1/2 years of service. After his retirement he worked at Lowe’s in Lima. Never one to sit still, Bill enjoyed watching the birds, wood working and dilly dallying around the house. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon L. Wheeler of Lima; two children, Jeffery L.(Julie) Wheeler of Wapakoneta, and Robin E. (Jeff) Walker of Lima; four grandchildren, Brittaney (Jared Llewellyn) Twining of Wapakoneta, Bethaney (Brian) Russell of Wapakoneta, Gabrielle Walker of Lima, and Danika Walker of Lima; three great-grandchildren, Jacoby Twining, Nora Twining, Bentley Russell and one on the way, Jace William Llewellyn; two brothers, Virgil Wheeler of KY, and Thomas (Linda) Wheeler of NC; two sisters, Beverly Duryea of Defiance, Janice Wehrley of Defiance, and his beloved dog, Bailey.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Junior Holloway.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Lori Wright will officiate the service. Entombment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum. Military Honors will be provided by the VFW #1275 and the United States Army.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, prior to the service at the funeral home.
