William “Bill” D. Dessenberg, age 66, passed away August 28, 2018, at 10:55 pm, at Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Bill was born August 16, 1952 in Garden City, MI, to Billy Le Roy and Wanda Mae (Custer) Dessenberg who preceded him in death. On November 7, 1981, his life became complete when he married Linda (Holland) Dessenberg who survives in Uniopolis, OH.
Bill attended Lima Senior High School. After high school he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War. Bill spent most of his life as a welder with Crown Equipment from which he retired. He was a member of the Northpark Community Church where he enjoyed playing guitar. Bill enjoyed hunting and wood working. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his children: Rhonda McDaniel of AL, Debi Blankenship of Oregon, OH and Donna (Jason) Kline of Lima, OH, 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, a sister, Linda Woodruff of Lima, OH and a brother in-law, Larry Tidd of Delphos, OH. He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Dessenberg, a sister, Marlene Tidd and a brother in-law, Ray Woodruff.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm at the Northpark Community Church at 1321 East Elm St., Lima, OH, 45804. Officiating the service will be Pastor Robert Woodruff. At the conclusion of the service, military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army and the VFW#1275. Burial of cremated remains will be held privately at a later date.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita’s Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
