Thomas “Tom” B. Myers, age 67, passed away October 7, 2014, at 9:34 pm, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center. Tom was born May 16, 1947 in Lima, OH, to Thomas and Muriel Myers who preceded him in death. On April 30, 2010 he married Dianne Lawell Myers who survives in Lima.
Tom was a 1965 graduate of L.C.C. After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Once he was out of the Marines he came home and took a position with Westinghouse for two years. In 1971 he joined the Allen County Sheriff’s Office and worked as a Deputy Sheriff and worked there until 2008 and retired as a Lieutenant. While at the Allen Co. Sheriff’s Office he had directed the Selective Enforcement Team SET for 5 years. Tom was an Adjunct Instructor at Rhoades State College for the Law Enforcement Academy for many years and he was also Co-chair of the Lima Allen County Gang Task Force. Tom was a member of the Allen Co. Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, FOP Lima Lodge #21 and a charter member of the Domestic Violence Protocol Committee. In 2006, Tom was selected as the Allen County Law Officer of the Year.
Tom is survived by a brother-in-law, Randy Tomlinson of Lima, OH, a step daughter, Sarah Dufresne of Ardmore, PA and a step granddaughter, Grace Dufresne. He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas C. Myers, a sister, Connie Tomlinson and a brother, Dan Myers.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at the St. Charles Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:00 am. Friends may call from 1-3 and 5-7 pm on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL followed by a FOP Memorial Service. Officiating the Mass will be Fr. Stephen Blum. Burial will be in Gethsemani Cemetery following the service. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com
