Steven M. Carlson, DDS, 78, passed away on October 18, 2022, at 4:16 am, at The Greens at Lima Convalescent Home.
Steven was born January 29, 1944 in Springfield, IL, the son of Mauritz and Grace (Holcomb) Carlson who both preceded him in death. On September 5, 1965 he married his high school sweetheart, Janet Kayser Carlson who survives him.
Dr. Carlson was a 1962 graduate of Elida High School and a 1967 graduate of The Ohio State University. He continued at OSU, attending the College of Dentistry to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1971. He returned to Lima as an associate dentist for one year before opening his own dental practice in Delphos. He actively practiced dentistry and cared for his patients for nearly 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lima, where he most recently served as chairman of the finance committee.
He is also is survived by his son, Jordan (Anne) Carlson of Cary, NC and daughter, Suzanne (John) Carlson Hays of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Jonah, Ethan, Lauren, and Sarah Carlson, and Sophia Hays; one brother, Eric (Bonnie) Carlson of Lima; two sisters, Carol (John) Kiley and Janet Carlson both of Lima; two sisters-in-law, Joy (Jerry) Burdette of Coolville, OH and Joan Everett of Belpre, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Steven (Carol) Perrin and Billy (Joan) Everett, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
A private graveside service will be at Elida – Greenlawn Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Shields conducting the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Dental Lifeline Network or First Baptist Church, Lima.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Rita’s Hospice and The Greens at Lima Convalescent Home for taking care of their husband and father.
