Russell P. Loescher, 89 of Lima, passed away March 22, 2023, at Burton’s Ridge Assisted Living with his loving family by his side.

Russell was born April 20, 1933 in Lima, to Dewey and Josephine (Beckdolt) Loescher, who preceded him in death. On October 28, 1956 he married Nancy (Gossard) Loescher, who preceded him in death on February 26, 2016.

Russell was a graduate of Lafayette Jackson High School and a proud Korean War Army Veteran. He worked for many years at Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1995 and at the Lima Tank Plant and the family business, Loescher Green House before that. Russell was a member of Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren, the Lima Eagles Aerie 370, the American Legion Post 96 and VFW Post 1275. He loved gardening and he enjoyed golfing with his wife. Russell played softball in his earlier years, he enjoyed camping and, most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Daniel (Anita) Loescher of Lebanon, OH, Karen (Shane) Gallier of Cridersville, and Denise (Jim) Enrico of Freeport, ME; grandchildren, Andrea (Brian) Tumler, Erika (Matt) Chiodi, Erin (Cory) Toepfert, Taylor Enrico and Blake Enrico; great-grandchildren, Avery Tumler, Luke Tumler, Evan Chiodi, Eliza Chiodi, Lane Toepfert, Bennett Toepfert and Josephine Toepfert.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Russell is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Loescher Latimer.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 25, 2023 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Rev. Mike Huffaker to officiate the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
