Robert W. Kennedy, 90, passed away on September 12, 2019, at 9:16 pm, Shawnee Manor Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born October 19, 1928 in Lima, OH, to William and Juanita (Bush) Kennedy who both preceded him in death. On November 4, 1950 he married Mary Carol Barnes at Epworth Methodist Church.
Bob graduated from Lima Central High in 1946. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and was Honorably Discharged after two years of service. Bob worked at City Tool and Die as a toolmaker and then went to Westinghouse working in the Aerospace Division as a Development Administrator retiring in 1991. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Bob also enjoyed playing golf at various courses in the Lima area. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and “papa” both to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob and his wife Carol enjoyed traveling to various parts of the country, particularly Hawaii over the years.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Kennedy of Lima, OH, children, Jeffrey “Jeff”(Cindy) Kennedy of Elida, OH, Michael “Mike” (Debbie) Kennedy of Lima, OH, Gregory “Greg” (Gemma) Kennedy of Lima, OH; grandchildren, Will, Nicholas, Joshua, Adrian, Chaunci, Marisa, Tray, Alanya, Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Trey, Gage, Cove, Grady, Haven, Jacie, Colson, Rylee, Jenna, Morgan, Sophie and Kylie.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Helen (Jerry) Redick.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 1:00PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Daniel Messner and Pastor Josh Kennedy to officiate the service. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service.
Visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00PM to 6:00PM and on Monday, September 16, 2019 from 11:30AM to 1:00PM.
