Robert L. “Bobby” Henderson, age 86, went home to be with the Lord at 12:45 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Bobby was born March 19, 1932 in Lima to the late Dennis and Iber Irene (Farley) Henderson. On August 9, 1958 he married Shirley J. (Luckett) Henderson who survives in Lima.

Bobby was a 1952 graduate of Lima South High School. He proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Bobby worked many years and retired from Teledyne Ohio Steele. He was a Master Gardener and enjoyed fishing. Bobby was a member of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, where he loved to sing in the choir. He was also a member of the Lima Community Gospel Choir.

He was blessed with four children, Daryl Pugh who preceded him in death, Rhonda J. Henderson Laidlaw of Lima, Nanette L. Henderson of Seffner, FL and Shellie D. (Greg) Taylor of Marietta, GA; six grandchildren, Kayla Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Ryanna Laidlaw, Jaydon Taylor, Alexis Laidlaw and Carl Calbert “CJ” Laidlaw.

Other survivors include a brother, Harold Henderson of Sacramento, CA, two sisters, Theresa Stinson of Detroit, MI, Phyllis McGee of Lima and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and son he is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Carl Calbert Laidlaw; eight brothers, Booker T. Henderson, Dennis Henderson, William C. Henderson Sr., James Troy Henderson, Fred Henderson, Elmer Henderson, Joe Henderson, Leon Henderson and three sisters, Ocie Wilson, Gertrude Jackson and Doris Smith.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m, Saturday, July 21, 2018, at In Faith Ministries, 1575 E. High Street, Lima, Ohio 45804. Pastors Austin Lewis and Michael Lyons will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marines and the VFW #1275.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
