Robert “Bob” Horton, Jr. was born May 30, 1937 in Tuscumbia, AL to the late Robert and Hariet (Nash) Horton. He departed this life on July 11, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters Beverly Ridley and Bridgette Horton; two brothers Charles Horton and Arthur Horton.

Bob was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was retired from General Motors. Bob was an active person in the community. He was the president of Health Partners of Western Ohio, a member of the Housing Appeal Board and the past president of the Martin Luther King Neighborhood Association. He earned numerous awards for his service to the City of Lima.

He is survived by his companion Melinda Gordon; his daughters Wanda King, Patsy Anderson, Roberta (Emmanuel) Burch, Tolando Horton, Karen (Brian) Brasher and Tara Monroe; his sons Bobby Horton and Kyle Horton; his brothers George (Louise) Horton, Larry (Barbara) Horton; his sisters Myrtle Goins, Elizabeth Horton, Corene Horton, Lorene (Curtis) Anderson and Carolyn Wiggins; his aunt Carolyn Batiste; his uncle Robert Beckwith; his step-children Tyree Gordon, Corey Gordon, Natasha Gordon and Latasha Gordon; his devoted cousin Bryan Estelle; his devoted friends Janice Sunderhouse and Kenny Franklin, Jr.; his sister-in-law Jeanne Williams; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.

There will be visitation and funeral services at Thompson & Son Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, AL at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Shoals Memorial Garden, Tuscumbia, AL.
