Martha J. Ball, 93, of Lima, passed away at 6:30 PM on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the Orchards of Lima.

She was born on September 11, 1922 in Marion Co., Ohio to William E. and Elsie Kohn Holden, who both preceded her in death. On September 27, 1942, she married Paul B. Ball, who survives in Lima.

Martha was a 1940 graduate of Lima Central High School. She had been a cook for the Lima City Schools for over 21 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of the Family of Faith United Methodist Church and formerly of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She was also a member of SERO, AFSCME and the United Methodist Women. She had been a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid camper in both the United States and Canada, having visited all 50 states, except Hawaii.

Surviving are her two sons David Ball and T. John Elizabeth Ball, both of Lima; her five grandchildren T. John Angela Ball II, James David Ball, Anna Daniel Ball-Schiel, Heather F. Setzer and Erin Hugh Elizabeth Ball; her ten great-grandchildren; her son-in-law Robert Setzer of Baltimore, OH.

She was preceded in death by her son Mark Ball; her daughter Becky Setzer; her granddaughter Tiffany Setzer; her three brothers Paul, John B., and Bernard “Bert” Holden; her two sisters Alma Simmons and Ella Mae May.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 8, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 801 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima, with Pastor Jim Loescher officiating.

Funeral Services will follow the visitation at the church at 1:00 PM.

Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
