Marion Dale Bowers, 72, of Lima, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 7:15 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015 at his residence. He was surrounded by his loving wife, son, daughter and doggie after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on August 23, 1942 in Lima to Dale M. and Edna Rhodes Bowers, who both preceded him in death. On September 12, 1970, he married Judith “Judy” Black, who survives in Lima.

Marion was a member of Family of Faith United Methodist Church in Lima, where he was a trustee and a former member of the Administrative Council. He was a 1960 graduate of Bath High School. He proudly served his country in the US Navy. While in the Navy he earned his degree as an electrician. After returning home, he worked for Clark Equipment, Excello, Airfoil/Textron and Sinter Metals as a maintenance electrician. He was also a member of the Allen County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse, the Buckeye Rider’s and Driver’s Saddle Club and a life-long member of the NRA. He loved gardening, fishing, mowing his lawn and rooting for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes.

Surviving are his loving wife of almost 45 years, Judith “Judy” Bowers; his son Brian M. Bowers of Lima; his daughter Shelley R. Bowers of Portland, OR; his brother Ray Pam Bowers of Arlington, OH; his two sisters Roberta A. Smith of Elida and Joyce M. Ronald Roeder of Lima; many nieces, nephews, In-Laws and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Raymond Smith and his nephew Shane Bowers.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Family of Faith United Methodist Church, 801 Bellefontaine Ave., Lima, Ohio 45801 with Pastor Jim Loescher and Rev. Mark Burden officiating.

Interment will be in Bluelick Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 1275.

Memorial contributions may be made to Family of Faith United Methodist Church or The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital at The Ohio State University, 300 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, OH 43201.
