On August 25, 2018 (on her grand-daughter Amber’s 25th birthday), Margie Marie Robey passed peacefully into Heaven embraced in the arms of her family.

Margie was born September 19, 1928 to Boyd & Glayds (Allison) Alger. In 1946, Margie graduated from Gomer Schools. On Thanksgiving Day, November 25th, 1948, she married Delbert Robey (deceased) at Cairo United Methodist Church which she attended for many years.

Together they had 6 children, 3 boys & 3 girls. James (Sharon) Robey-Erik & Beth, Ron (Lynn) Robey, Tracy & Tiffany, Dale Robey, Deb (Rod) Lamb-Allen & Travis, Susan (Steve) White-Ross & Cody, Julie Dunn (Tony Musto)-Amber Dunn. Margie was very excited to see her two youngest great-grandchildren, Keegan & Ava White (Cody’s children). She is survived by her three siblings Robert (Margie) Alger, Richard (Mary) Alger, and Linda Alger (Vern Hadding). She had many nieces & nephews.

Margie retired from Bath Schools after 20 years as a cafeteria cook. Margie’s favorite thing in life was spending time with her family, seeing some of them every day. She took much pride in cooking & baking for them often. Margie greatly enjoyed tending to her many plants & beautiful flower gardens. Over seven years ago, Margie had a debilitating stroke that changed her life dramatically. She was loved & cared for every day at the Nursing Home by three of her children, Dale, Susan & Julie. She became “Grandma Margie” to many of the aids & nurses, and she is loved & will be greatly missed by all the staff.

Anyone that knew Margie would agree that she was one of the hardest working individuals around. Being raised on a farm, cooking big country meals and planting huge summer gardens was just a natural way of life for her. Everything had to be made from scratch and measuring cups were rarely used! Margie thoroughly enjoyed eating chocolate & was known for making her homemade chocolate syrup known as “Chocolate Dope.” Margie was a huge animal lover and had many pets. She raised finches and love birds for years, and had many cats & dogs throughout her life. She is now in Heaven with her beloved little schnauzer Nipper. She will be missed by her many grand-dogs, Brutus, Biscuit, and Trixy. Teddy Bear visited her almost daily in the Nursing Home.

Visitation will be a CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Visiting hours will be Wednesday August 29, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The funeral will be Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour prior from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the services in Rockport Cemetery.
