Margaret A. “Peggy” Smith, 81, of Lima passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at her residence.
She was born on March 3, 1933 in Toledo, OH to David C. and Audry Koons White who both preceded her in death. She was adopted and raised by Homer and Verda Reeder who also preceded her in death. On January 31, 1954 she married James William Smith who survives in Lima.
Peggy had worked at Lima Electric Motors and Lima Armature Works. She was a member of Central Christian Church since 1938 and a 1951 graduate of Athens High School. She was a volunteer and life member of the Lima Memorial Hospital Auxillary where she volunteered for over 5, 000 hours. She also volunteered as an aide for the Elida School nurse where she earned the Golden Rule Award for volunteering. She was a Jaycette and earned the Jaycette Award for the most outstanding volunteer the same year her husband earned the Jaycee Award.
Surviving are her son Richard W. Ann Smith of Elida, OH; her daughter Janette “Sue” Roy Smith of Elida, OH; her six grandchildren Matthew Amber Smith, Brien Lauren Smith, Troy Smith, Sherrie Haney, Janelle Smith and Andrea Kory Sebenoler; her six great-grandchildren Skyler, Avery, Kaelynn, Owen, Isabella and McKensie; two step-great grandchildren Brayden and Hurley; a sister-in-law Janet Zane Miller of Milton, FL.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers Roderick White and Richard Reeder.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 4, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Friday, December 5, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Norman Witthuhn officiating.
