Ludie G.Turner, age 88, passed away February 18, 2019, at 5:45 am, at the Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center. Ludie was born June 10, 1930, in Florence, AL, to Jesse and Edith (Simpson) Turner who preceded him in death.
At an early age, Ludie had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Ludie had worked as a laborer for 37 years with General Motors in Defiance, from which he retired. He was a member of the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. Ludie loved to fish, play cards and play the lottery. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.
Ludie is survived by his close companion, Roslyn Kareada Parker of Lima, OH and his children: Henry (Angela) Turner of Birmingham, AL, Arther (Rosie) Turner of Florence, AL, Ludie (Millie) Turner Jr. of Florence, AL, Larry (Arendra) Turner of Muscle Shoals, AL, Shirley (Willis) Thompson of Muscle Shoals, AL, Cedric Turner of Florence, AL, Aretha Smith of Killen, AL, Garrett Turner, Paul Curtis, Elizabeth Ann Taylor, Karlinda Cunningham and Karlita Cunningham all of Lima, OH, 28 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva M. (Williams) Turner, 13 siblings: Lemon Hyatt Turner, Phillip Turner, Edger (Lena May) Turner, Anthony (Gwen) Turner, James (Carlene) Turner, Jesse (Emma) Turner, Frank (Ruth) Turner, George (Hazel) Turner, Luke (Earlene) Turner, Johnny (Rosemary)Turner, Ella (Albert) Miller, Enda (Gus) Jones and Ida (John D.) Brown.
There will be a funeral service held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. Officiating the service will be Dr. B. Lamont Monford. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the Philippian Missionary Baptist Church. The family has entrusted the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL in assisting them with making funeral arrangements.
