John Irvin Riley, 67 of Lima, passed away from cancer peacefully on April 15, 2023, at Odem at Auglaize, with his loving family by his side.

John was born October 11, 1955, in Lima to Glen and Betty (Reed) Riley, who preceded him in death.

John was a graduate of Shawnee High School, he initially worked as a projectionist for Regal Cinema, where he would decide to begin a family and soon after make a career change. He worked as a field technician at PSI for 30 years and throughout that time, John was an avid music fan and enjoyed working many years at the civic Center and county fairgrounds as a stage technician for concerts and other productions He loved going to amusement parks and riding roller coasters. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors camping, having fires and family gatherings. John would love to be remembered with funny or silly stories that celebrate what was good in his life.

He is survived by his daughter, Stacia Riley of Harlan, IN; son, John Matthew “Matt” Riley of Newark, OH; grandchildren, Jayden Watson and Trisha Calhoun and his sisters, Mary (Tim) Mulready of Lima and Sandy Riley of McGuffey.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cassandra “Cassie” Calhoun; girlfriend, Shelly Poland and his beloved dog companion, Susie.

Memorial service will be held at 4:30 pm on May 20th at The Garden of Love Old Regular Baptist Church in Saint Marys, with Brother Gary Mosley to officiate. Followed by a luncheon at Indian Lake / Blackhawk Island.
