John E. Schmiedebusch, 68, of Harrod, passed away at 12:23 AM on November 24, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on January 26, 1950 in Lima to Frederi9ck and Margaret (Swickwrath) Schmiedebusch, who both preceded him in death. On July 12, 1969, he married Christine “Chris” Dotson, who survives in Harrod.

John was a retired diesel mechanic for Stoops Freightliner. After retirement, he was a semi-truck driver and a farmer. He loved helping veterans and was a member of The Chained Eagles of Ohio, a veterans group that supports POW/MIA.

Surviving are his wife Christine “Chris” Schmiedebusch; his children John (Chantal) Schmiedebusch II of Lafayette, Diana (Lance) Criblez of Lafayette, Randy (Crystal Cross) Schmiedebusch of Harrod and Stacy (Steve) Schmidt of Columbus Grove; his grandchildren Alicianna, Ariana, Johnny III, Lauren, Gabe, Eli, Levi, Cole, Hailey, Robby, Jacob and Liam;p his great-granddaughter Brooklynn; his adopted son Bill Ream of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by his brother Frederick Schmiedebusch II.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 30, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL, with Pastor Neal Whitney officiating.

Interment will immediately follow the services in Memorial Park Cemetery where graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 6772, Spencerville and active duty members of the US Army.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Chained Eagles of Ohio.
