Jerry L. Ludwig, 75, of Cridersville, passed away at 3:40 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.

He was born on May 25, 1940 in Delphos, to Garvin and Goldie Musser Ludwig, who both preceded him in death. On November 25, 1967, he married Sylvia Mertz Ludwig, who survives in Lima.

Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Lima Senior High School. He retired in 2004 as an overhead crane operator from Superior Forge and Steel formerly Teledyne and Ohio Steel, after 39 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the US Army. He was a member of the Lima Eagle’s Aerie 370. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He collected beer steins and was a car enthusiast, who loved to attend car shows. He loved to cut his grass and wash his car. Jerry also loved his animals, going to the casino and attending his grandsons sporting events. He put everyone else first and will be sadly missed by everyone.

Surviving are his daughter Debbie Tom Nolte of Lima; his two grandsons Thomas and Jacob Nolte; his brothers Ken Ludwig of Harrod and Larry Sue Ludwig his twin brother of Lima; his sister Karen Mel Kohrn of Lima; numerous nieces and nephews; brother-in-law Gerry Picker.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and wives Frank Betty and Arnold Sandra Ludwig; his sisters Elaine Morvay, Junella Picker and his sister and her husband Kathleen Jack Armstrong; his brother-in-law and wife Harold and Gaylena Mertz; his nephew Mike Mertz; sister-in-law Geri Ann Ludwig.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL with Pastor Tim Benjamin officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of the US Army and VFW Post 1275.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
