Janette Morrison Mort, age 99 and two weeks shy of 100, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Sunday March 25, 2018, at the Lima Convalescent Home.

Janette was born April 7, 1918 in Perry Township, to the late Orville and Lucille (Stevenson) McPheron. On February 24, 1937 she married Walter LeRoy Morrison who preceded her in death on February 4, 1977 and on August 4, 1978 she married Don Mort who preceded her in death in May of 1991.

Janette was a 1936 graduate of Lima South High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Lima Senior High School when it first was opened for ten years and retired as a secretary at the Lima Education Center after thirteen years of service. She enjoyed quilting, working cross word puzzles and she was an avid football fan. Janette was a woman of faith and was a longtime member of Forest Park United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was blessed with two children, Ann and Gary Moeller of Whitmore Lake, MI and Joe Morrison who preceded her in death on February 5. 1989; eight grandchildren, Rick, Jeff, Shelly, Chris, Susan, Amy, Andrew and Molly J.; 24 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and special nieces, Kay Johnson and Carol Sue Nichols.

In addition to her parents and son, she is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Brillhart and brother, Dr. Glen McPheron.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Pastor Wanda Werking will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
