Francis “Frank” Stimmel, 70, of Lima passed away at 11:05 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born on March 6, 1945 in Lima to Virgil B. and Mary J. Nutt Stimmel, who both preceded him in death. On December 24, 1963, he married Linda Melson, who preceded him in death in 1999.
Frank was the former owner/operator of the St. John’s Super Corner for 20 years. He proudly served his country in the US Army He was a member of the Eagle’s Aerie 370, Lima and the VFW Post 1275. He enjoyed racing and spending time with his dog Jessie.
Surviving are his son Michael Alan Melissa Stimmel of Canton, GA; his daughter Michele Dickerson of Wapakoneta, OH; his brothers James C. Stimmel, Jeff Stimmel, Greg Stimmel, Harlan “Butch” Hooker, Jr., Dennis Hooker and Clifford Hooker all of Lima; his sisters Shirley Miller of Marrietta, OH and Norma Jean Grieson of Dayton, OH; his five grandchildren Timothy Matt Nickles, Stacey Nickles, Amanda Tone, Alexandria Pohjala and Anthony “Tony” Stimmel; his three great-grandchildren Wyatt Slygh, Rylee Nickles and Carson Bowsher.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bud M. Stimmel.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES EASTSIDE CHAPEL, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
Following the services at the funeral home a military honors service will be conducted by VFW Post 1275 and the Army Honor Guard.
Entombment of the cremated remains will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum at a later date at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Allen County Humane Society.
