Evva M. Gallaway, age 100, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 12, 2015, at 7:45 am, at the Orchards Nursing Home.

Evva was born November 13, 1914 in Lima, OH, to Ira and Daisy Russler Coon who preceded her in death. On April 22, 1941 she married Robert A. Gallaway who preceded her in death on June 5, 1980.

Evva was a 1932 graduate of the Shawnee High School. After high school she traveled to California and lived there for 2 years and attended a local college. She eventually came back to Lima and attended the Lima Memorial School of Nursing and graduated from there in 1938. Through the years she had worked as a registered nurse with Lima Memorial and St. Rita’s Hospitals, local area nursing homes and then at the end she had worked as a private duty nurse. She worked collectively for 33 years retiring in 1971. Evva was a member of the Restoration Temple Church. Some of her interests were spending hours a day reading God’s word, gardening and cooking. She will be remembered as being an amazing family person that always had a smile on her face and would help anyone that was in need and had a gift of hospitality.

Evva is survived by a son, John R. Harriet Gallaway of Lima, OH, and a brother, Gail Vondale Coon of Fostoria, OH, 4 Grandchildren; Michele Tony VanNess, George Pam McGuire, Mary McGuire and Kathleen James Melton, 10 great grandchildren and many great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Greta J. Gallaway, 2 brothers; Myron and William Coon, a sister, Anna Blanche Coon and 2 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00 am. Officiating the service will be the Pastor Gene Salsbury and Pastor Phil Lee.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the CHILES LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.

Burial will be in the Shawnee Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Restoration Temple. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-laman
