Eldon E. (Jack) Meeker, 88, of Lima, passed away at 2:38 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at St. Rita’s Medical Center. Mr. Meeker was born December 23, 1927 in Lima, OH to Edgar W. and Violet Marie Meeker who preceded him in death. In June 1976, he married Janett P. Meeker, who survives in Lima.

Other survivors include his nine children: Cynthia (Terry) Simpson of Lima, Michael (Janet) Meeker of Lima, Timothy (Terri Wenning) Meeker of Lima, Gregory Meeker of Toledo, OH, David Meeker of Van Wert, OH, Jamie (Megan) Meeker of Elida, OH, Jeff Temple of Marion, OH, Tom Temple of Marion, OH and Mary (Stoney) Luikart of Sweet Water, TN. Eldon also has one surviving brother, Lynn (Vicky) Meeker of St. Mary’s, OH.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert A. Meeker, James Raymond Lee Meeker, Gary Dean Meeker, Richard W. Meeker, and one sister, Kate Ferenzci.

Other survivors include numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Eldon served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1948 and the United States Army from 1948 to 1953, proudly serving his country. He was a professional truck driver, driving for over 40 years, and retiring in 1992 from Kenosha Auto Transport. Including being a member of the American Legion, Lima Post 96, he was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed many things, including rooting for The Ohio State Buckeyes, Minnesota Vikings and the Cincinnati Reds.

Per Jack’s final wishes, cremation will follow a private family service that will include military rights from the United States Armed Services and V.F.W. Post 1275. There will be no public visitation.
