Earl Dean Hauenstein, Sr.,90 of Lima, passed away April 28, 2021, at 6:58 pm, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Earl was born November 29, 1930 in Cairo, OH, to Clyde and Mary (Sutter) Hauenstein, who preceded him in death. On February 14, 1985, he married Dora (Chavis) Hauenstein, who survives him in Lima.

Earl was a 1948 graduate of Bluffton High School and a proud United States Army Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an inspector at Ford Motor Company for 32 years before he retired in 1997. Earl was a life member of VFW Post #1275 and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed trips to the casino with his wife and tinkering on cars. Most of all, Earl loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Earl is survived by his children, Mary Alice Shuey of Largo, FL, Earl Dean Hauenstein, Jr. of Pensacola, FL and Carol Henderson of Celina; step-children, Debbie (Gary) Murphy and Diane (Mike) Bell; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Hanlin; sisters-in-law, Joyce Hauenstein and Lucille Hauenstein, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his step-son, Paul Miller, Jr.; sister, June Ericson and brothers, Gerald Hauenstein, Dwight Hauenstein and Richard Hauenstein.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Nathan Branim to officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice.
