Doris J. Jordan , age 71, passed away May 14, 2022, at 12:43 am, at the Mercy Health- St. Rita’s Medical Center. Doris was born February 4, 1951, in Lima, OH, to William D. and Nellie A. (Jackson) Melton who preceded her in death. On April 14, 1993, she married Wilfried Kurt Karl Jordan who preceded her in death on December 29, 2019.
Doris was a 1969 graduate of Lima Senior High School. Upon graduating, she immediately went to work with Duff Truck Lines in the billing department where she worked for 15 years. Then she changed vocations and became a legal secretary working for a couple local attorneys for 25 years until her illness prevented her from working anymore. Doris had been a member of the B.P.O.E #54 and the Eagles Aerie #370. Doris and her late husband loved traveling and dancing. They enjoyed participating in dance contests where they would win many times. Above all else, she dearly loved her grandchildren, whom they referred to as “Nana”. She will be remembered as always being a gracious and classy host of numerous parties and she always enjoyed a good time.
Doris is survived by her 2 daughters: Alison (Steve) Niese of Bluffton, OH and Heather (Kevin) Grimm of Columbus, OH, a step-daughter, Angie (Barry) Clark of Lima, OH and a step-son, Ron Jordan of Columbus, OH, 5 grandchildren: Kailyn Goodman, Jessica Goodman, Jenna Goodman, Katie Clark and Lane Lee, 5 siblings: Kenneth Melton of Lima, OH, William “Dan” (Rowena) Melton of Cridersville, OH, Janice (Ron Taylor) Ford of Cridersville, OH, Joanne (Steve) Parnell of Lima, OH and Judith Grady of Elida, OH. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Norma Dailey and Robin (Abigal) Melton, a sister in-law, Ursula Melton and a brother in-law, Eldon Ford.
There will be a funeral service held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:30 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will be in Shawnee Cemetery following the service. Officiating the service will be Pastor Lori Wright.
Friends may visit on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to Memory Unit at Lima Convalescent Nursing Home. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.chiles-lamanfh.com.
