Donna Augsburger, 91, of Bluffton, passed away peacefully in Bridge Hospice at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay on Monday, August 31, 2020. She was surrounded by family who kept a loving vigil at her bedside.
Donna’s commitment to family, her faith, and sense of responsibility were evident throughout her life, and her children and grandchildren have all been deeply affected by her example. For all of us, she has been a tremendous source of strength and guidance. We will miss her smile and laughter.
Born November 29, 1928 to Franklin and Dessie (Radabaugh) McCullough, Donna grew up in the Gilboa area. After graduating from Pandora High School in 1947, Donna attended Warner’s Beauty College in Fort Wayne, Indiana, married Clyde Augsburger in 1948, and worked as a hair dresser and later as a secretary at Hercules Tire, before dedicating her life to being a homemaker and the right hand to her husband on the family farm.
She raised her family on the farm, working long hours and providing a life of opportunities to teach her children the value of hard work. Donna was an exceptional cook and blessed many with her award-winning brownies and many other specialties. She was always supportive of her children and their activities, served in many roles at the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friendly Fellowship class.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Clyde Augsburger in 2013; her son, Jerry Augsburger of Borden, Indiana in 2019; her grandson, Matthew Hamilton of Greeneville, Tennessee in 2020; her parents, Franklin McCullough and Dessie Moser; and her siblings, Betty Balmer, Robert, Kenneth, George, Harry and Keith McCullough.
Donna is survived by her brother Larry McCullough of Leipsic, three children: Judy Hamilton of Greenfield, Indiana; James (Wanda) Augsburger of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Joan Lieb of Dublin, Ohio; a daughter in law, Shara Augsburger of Borden, Indiana; eight grandchildren: Andrew (Lori) Augsburger of Loxahatchee, Florida; Erin Zachary of Eustis, Florida; Eric Augsburger of Borden, Indiana; Mackenzie Augsburger of Borden, Indiana; Carl (Ellie) Augsburger of Lorain, Ohio; Crystal Augsburger (Omar Tabbaa) of Columbus, Ohio; Allison Bittner (Patrick) of Wilmington, Ohio; Alex Augsburger of Findlay, Ohio, and four great grandchildren, Cheyenne Augsburger, Teagan Zachary, Aurelia and Thea Tabbaa.
A private family graveside will be held at Clymer Cemetery near Mt. Cory. William Herr officiating.
The family invites friends and family to consider donations to the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church, the Hilty Home Retirement Community or Bridge Hospice care, where Donna and her family received such kind and excellent care during her last days.
