Donald Raymond Trask, age 84, passed away June 9, 2016, at 7:52 pm, at his residence.

Don was born July 7, 1931, in Lima, OH, to Raymond “Bob” Pratt and Maude Elsie Daniel Trask who preceded him in death.

Don graduated from Whittier Elementary, and then in 1949 graduate of the Lima South High School. He had also attended the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War from 1951 until 1955. He retired in January of 1993 from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of government service. His last position being that of a Self Service Postal Center Technician. Don was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church until it closed. He was a life member of the following organizations: VFW, post # 6741, American Legion, post # 96, AMVETS, post # 1, Korean War Veterans Association, chapter # 115, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National Rifle Association of America, the Ohio Rifle and Pistol Association, the Ohio Historical Society and the Putnam County Historical Society. He was a member for more than 50 years of the Sports Car Club of America. Don was also a member of the America Postal Workers Union, Senior Citizens Services, Inc., AARP, The Ohio Genealogical Society and the Air Force Museum Foundation.

Don is survived by a nephew, Brian J. Amy Wingerter of Westerville, OH and a niece, Diane Wingerter of Blacklick, OH, 2 great nieces; Amanda Flaig of Reynoldsburg, OH and Audrey Wingerter of Westerville, OH, a former brother-in-law, Harold Wingerter of Columbus, OH, a cousin, Dan Mary Jo Gast of Lima, OH and his close companion, Cynthia D. Schaeffer of Delphos, OH. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Pauline “Betty” Wingerter Suess.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service will be Rev. Megan Croy. Burial of cremated remains will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery following the services. Friends may call on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Military honors will be performed by the VFW #1275 and the U.S. Air Force.
