Donald G. Mack, age 88, passed away March 18, 2018, at 1:15 pm, at Springview Manor Nursing Home.

Don was born October 1, 1929 in Lima, OH, to Floyd J. and Nelle (Pearson) Mack who preceded him in death. On September 1, 1951, he married Jackie (Quenby) Mack who survives in Lima.

Don was a 1947 graduate of Lima Central High School where he played tackle on the 1946 State Football Championship Team. After high school, Don joined the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. When he returned home, he then attended Ohio Northern University and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. Don then took a position in the accounting department at Lima City Loan and ended his career as assistant manager when he retired in 1986. In 1959-1960 he was awarded the Carling Sports Award for Commerce as outstanding athlete of the year. He was the 1964 Lost Creek Country Club Champion where he had been a member for over 50 years. Don pitched softball for many years for City Loan and a few other teams. Through the years he had worked as an official for both high school and college in basketball and football. He was the secretary of both Western Ohio Basketball and Football Officials Association for more than 40 years. Don was elected to the Ohio High School Athletic Association Officiating Hall of Fame in 1991. Don was a member of South Side Christian Church.

In addition to his wife, Don is survived by his children: Kimberly S. (Mike) Inkrott of Pickerington, OH and Gregory (Barbara) Mack of Lakeland, FL, 5 grandchildren: Braden (Kimberly) Mack, Stephanie (Travis Sutton) Inkrott, Geoffrey (Taylor) Mack, Meghan (Sterling) Mayer and Lindsey (John Hetrick) Inkrott, a great granddaughter, Sula Mack and a great grandson on the way and a sister, Janice (Jim) Meredith of Lima, OH.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Katherine Bennett Goff and a brother, Robert (Mary) Mack.

There will be a funeral service held on a Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Officiating the service Rev. Todd Cosart.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Military Honors will be performed by the U.S. Army and the VFW #1275.

Friends may call on Wednesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the South Side Christian Church.
