Dennis Larry Silye, of Elida, passed from this life at Springview Manor on March 18, 2021.

He was born in Detroit, MI, to Stephen M. and Helen Marjean (Brower) Silye who preceded him in death. He married Carolyn Mays Silye and they were married for over 55 years and she survives.

Also surviving are their children: Denise (Jeffery) Martz of Gomer, Yvonne (Robert) Conaway of Lima, Michael Silye of Gahanna, OH and Joe (Kerry) Walker of MO; and his siblings: Karen (Neil dec.) Shroyer of Wapak, Sandra Smith of Dublin, Catherine (David dec.) Beard of Wapak, Craig Keith of Lima, and twins, Sheryl (George) Dishman and Sharon Keith both of Fresno, TX. Also surviving are the grandchildren: Robert Justin Conaway, Kelsey Conaway, Jessica Hire, Dalton Martz, Mathew Walker, Jacob Silye, Kaden Silye, Brendan Walker, Madison Walker and Ashton Silye plus nine great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Deward Keith, stepmother Ona Silye and a stepbrother, James Keith.

Dennis retired from the Lima Engine Plant in 1991 as an electrician. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He loved model trains and the Elida Marching Band, along with all sports from Elida High School. He was an active member of Firm Foundation where he was a deacon and board member. Most of all, he loved his wife, children and grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, Mar. 22, 2021 at Memorial Park Mausoleum, with Pastor Scott Dove to officiate the service. Military rites will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and V.F.W. Post 1275. Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services in the Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
