Columbus, Ohio
Humanity lost a gentle soul, the kindest heart, and a most generous man with his time, talents and treasure on the afternoon of Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Ohio State University -Ross Heart Hospital as Dennis Eugene Kaser passed from this life while awaiting a lung transplant. Despite the prolonged illness, Dennis suffered in silence, never wanting to bother others with his problems, but he would encourage others to be tissue and organ donors as he is. He will also be remembered as a man of great humility and humor.
Dennis was born in Lima to Margaret Kaser, who survives, on March 22, 1959, and was raised by his dear grandparents, Eugene and Juanita Kaser. All three helped instill the values Dennis grew into as an adult.
Dennis went on to graduate from Elida High School in 1977. He was a man who had the physical strength of a cliched “ox,” and used that for his labors with Liberty Moving and Storage Company. His problem-solving abilities aided him with his work as a millwright at the Ford Motor Company’s Lima Engine Plant up until his retirement. With his fondness for car racing in mind, he then began a labor of love as co-owner and redeveloper of the LimaLand Motorsports Park.
His most recent efforts were as a real estate entrepreneur.
Despite doling out the advice to anyone who would listen of “never marry a redhead.” he chased his brazenhead and the love of his life down, and on August 12, 1980 married Christine M. Schenk. Together for nearly 43 years afterward, they embraced and personified their marriage vows- “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death.”
Together they raised two fine sons, Jason (Wynne Whitney) Kaser of Lima and Jeremy (Morgan) Kaser of Huntsville, OH. Dennis was the proud grandfather of Jackson Kaser and Owen, Ivy and Eden Kaser; and extended grandchildren, Kiarra Reynolds, and Libby, Allix and Kendall Cotterman. Dennis will also be missed by his brothers, Tom Kaser and Phillip McClure, both of Lima; surviving sisters, Penny (Frank) Bonanno of Waynesfield, OH, and Mayme (Randy) Boggs of Obetz, OH; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ann Schenk of Cridersville, Patricia Webb of Lima, Tom (Anne) Schenk of Middletown, OH, Jane (Don) Roberts of Lima and Fred (Karen) Schenk of Delaware, OH.
Waiting to welcome Dennis in eternal life are his grandparents, stepfather, James McClure; father and mother-in-law, John and Dorothy Schenk; brothers-in-law, Mike Schenk and Steve Webb; and his dear aunt, Beverly Kaser.
A particular joy in Dennis’ life was enjoying a beer or two, sharing a laugh, and socializing with good friends, especially Lowell (Judy) Bradshaw and Bruce (Norma) Kline. He would tinker on any engine ranging from yard equipment to construction vehicles, and became owner of Non Wing and Winged Sprint Cars #31 and #98 and a supporter to many others in the racing community. He also enjoyed fishing, playing board games, watching sports with Owen and spending time with all his grandchildren.
A Celebration of Dennis’ life will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 at 7:00PM at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL HOMES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Brad Taylor to officiate the service.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 5:00pm until the time of the service at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL.
His family welcomes all whose lives were touched by Dennis, as they hope you will share the stories and memories of a man who will be greatly missed by all those lucky enough to have known him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Indian Lake Athletic Boosters or Indian Lake Music Department, 6210 State Route 235 North, Lewistown, OH 43333.
