David J. Edwards, 85, of Lima, passed away at 5:07 PM on Friday, June 8, 2018 at St, Rita’s Medical Center.

He was born on August 8, 1932 in Cincinnati, OH to Ralph and Marjorie (Kramer) Edwards, who both preceded him in death. On February 1, 1958, he married Betty L. Roland, who survives in Lima.

David was a salesman for General Mills, Inc. for over 35 years, retiring in 1993. He proudly served his country as a member of the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer, a member of The Gardeners of Lima and The Silver Spurs Square Dance Club for many years. After retirement, David loved vacationing, photography and watching birds in his back yard.

Surviving are his sons Mark (Terry) Edwards of Grove City, OH, Kevin Edwards of Hilliard, OH, Dale (Binh) Edwards of Cincinnati, OH and Eric (Suzanne) Edwards of Hilliard, OH; his grandchildren Lauren, Sarah, Kelsey, Devin, Dylan Edwards and Kandace (Rocky) Hastings; his great-granddaughter Terra Conrad; his brother Tom (Carole) Edwards of Cincinnati, OH; his sister Nancy Elliott of West Chester, OH.

He was preceded in death by his son Brian Edwards; his sisters Susan Wilson and Mary Thien; his brother-in-law Ron Elliott.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Fr. David M. Ross officiating.

Military services will be conducted by the VFW Post 1275 and members of the Air Force at the church following the mass.

Entombment will be in the Gethsemani Cemetery Mausoleum at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Encore Theatre.
