Daniel Lewis Rex, age 76 of Harrod, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022, at 11:50 a.m., at Kindred Hospital, Lima.

He was born July 29, 1946 in Lima, to Oliver and Evelyn (Copeland Rex-Lones) Rex who preceded him in death. On September 28, 1969 he married Janice Ruth Ellen Calvert Rex who survives.

Surviving are their children: Kristin Renee Rex and Kevin Jay Rex both of Harrod, Kurtis Gene (fiance, Amanda Williams) Rex of Wapakoneta; Granddaughters: Jordis Rex of Harrod, Faith Williams and Alexis Williams both of Wapakoneta; a sister, LaDonna (Bruce) Perry of Wapakoneta, and a brother, David (Sue) Rex of Hocking Hills.

He was a 1964 graduate of Harrod High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served nearly four years during the Vietnam War. He retired as a welder from General Dynamics Lima Tank Plant, where he began his career at the Chrysler Plant. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Harrod. He enjoyed fishing, hunting in his younger days and bowling. He was a fan of the OSU Buckeyes & collegiate football, the Bengals & Browns and NFL football, and an avid watcher of wrestling. He was a volunteer for the Harrod Fire Department and was one of the original members of the Harrod Rescue Squad.

Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the Eastside Chapel of Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, with Patrick Bayman to officiate the service. Burial will be in Salem Westminster Cemetery following the service, with military rites by V.F.W. Post 1275 and the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.

Visitation will be on Thursday, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
