Charles L. “Chuck” Stiles, age 85, passed away at 1:50 pm Sunday, May 21, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.

Chuck was born February 21, 1932 in Lima to the late Raymond M. and Hazel H. (Harrod) Stiles. On October 3, 1953 he married the love of his life Mary Ellen (Painter) Stiles who preceded him in death on March 10, 2012 after 58 years of marriage.

Chuck attended Harrod High School. He retired from the Ford Motor Company (Lima Engine Plant) after 30 years of service and had previously worked for Marion Power Shovel and Lima Baldwin Hamilton (Clark Equipment). He had previously been a member of the Buckeye Riders and the Allen County Sheriffs Mounted Posse. Chuck proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Sager Lodge #513 Free & Accepted Masons, El Karan Grotto, High Twelve #590 and was a 32nd Degree Mason, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton where he was awarded the Meritorious Service Award. He enjoyed traveling together with his wife Mary Ellen and spending time with his family and friends.

He was blessed with two children, Blaine S. Stiles who preceded him in death on February 6, 2000 and Debra L. “Deb” Stiles of Harrod.

Other survivors include, sister-in-law, Ada Ruth Stiles of Harrod; brothers-in-law, Richard (Sue) Mawhorr of Spencerville, Leonard F. Ebbeskotte of Ottawa; nephew Jeff L. and Kaye Starr of Harrod; grandchildren, Kristen and Justin Howard, Megan and Lyle Dray, Matt (Emily Springer) Starr and five great grandchildren, Lily, William, Landon, Ella and Hunter; his beloved K-9, Spot and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Together with his wife and son he is preceded in death by brothers, Raymond M. Stiles Jr. and Harry D. Stiles; sisters, Doris J. (Ralph “Jack”) Starr, Peggy Ann (Bob) Bogart; brother-in-law, Harold Stevenson and sister-in-law, Judith A. Ebbeskotte.

Funeral services will begin 11:00 am Saturday, May 27, 2017 at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, EASTSIDE CHAPEL. Pastor Dave Burkhart will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and VFW #1275.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 8:00 pm Friday, May 26, at the funeral home and one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. A Masonic memorial service will begin 8:00 pm Friday.
