Charles “Chuck” Kaiser died at 2:49 p.m. Sept 18, 2016, at his residence surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with Parkinson and Cancer.
He was born on July 11, 1940 to the late  Frank and Bertha (Hughes) Kaiser in Holland, Ohio. On June 11, 1966 he married Dottie Harris and they celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary this year.
Mr. Kaiser served in the US Army from 1963-65 in Germany and was a lifetime member of the VFW 1275.
Upon returning home he began his construction career. Working many years for Lathrop Construction Company, Maumee, Ohio where he managed large building sites in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. He spent 2 years overseeing the building of the Honda Plant in Marysville, Ohio which he was extremely proud of.
Following his retirement from construction he became a certified locksmith and opened Chuck’s Lock and Key for 15 years in Lima and surrounding area. He was known in town as the “keyman”.  He was a member of the National Locksmith Association.
Chuck and Dottie loved to travel to Northern Michigan where they enjoyed visits with family.
Northern Michigan offered wonderful opportunities for snowmobiling which was a favorite family pastime in their younger years.
Family was especially important to him. A favorite family memory was reading through the Bible   while reading the Old Testament Chuck would draw diagrams of the Ark and Temple so the children would understand the magnitude of their size.
He was affectionately known as “Pa” to his 3 grandsons whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with on family vacations. He taught his children and grandchildren unique expression which they affectionately called “Pa-isms”.
Chuck’s favorite church ministry was when he was “head usher” and youth leader at Dorr Street Church of God in Toledo, Ohio.
Mr. Kaiser is survived by his wife Dottie and his children, Connie (Ali) Boraby of Toledo, Ohio and Dan (Carie) Kaiser of Toledo and Steve Kaiser of Bowling Green Ohio, 3 grandsons Caleb Boraby, Ayden Kaiser and Jonah Boraby.
The family would like to express special thanks to Putnam County Hospice for their support and care for Chuck and his family.
Also special thanks to Ella Fry and Pam Styer who provided care for him in unique and special ways that brightened Chuck’s final months. Byron Tippie was a special neighbor who made it possible for Chuck to remain in his home.
