Caroline M. Platvoet, age 86, passed away December 26, 2017, at 10:40 am, surrounded by her family at the Kingston Rehab of Perrysburg, OH. Caroline was born March 21, 1931 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, to John and Ellen A. (Smale) MacLean who preceded her in death. On September 5, 1953 she married William F. Platvoet who survives in Lima.
Caroline was a loving wife and mother and was very involved in children’s ministry at the Northside Baptist Church and then the Garden City Christian Union Church where she was also a member and played the organ. For many years she was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved to quilt and sew and was also known as being a giver of her time and talent. She was a former member of the Telephone Pioneers Club and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
In addition to her husband, Caroline is survived by her children: Lynn M. (John L.) Wolfe of Johnstown, OH and Cheryl A (David M.) Sansing of Oregon, OH, 4 grandchildren: Joshua A. (Katie L.) Wolfe of Norfolk, VA, Kathlyn M. Wolfe of Alexandria, VA, Seth D. (Candace M.) Sansing of Walbridge, OH and Thomas W. Sansing of San Diego, CA, 6 great grandchildren: Brookelynn M. Wolfe, Paul J. (Rachel A.) Sansing, Frank E. (Kira L.) Sansing, Dylan J. Maier, Ethan W. Rollo and Madison R. Sansing and a sister, Effie Lever of Wapakoneta, OH. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John MacLean Jr. and a brother in-law, Chester Lever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at the CHILES-LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL . Officiating the service will be Rev. Jerry Vantilberg. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following the service. Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 am at the SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garden City Christian Union Church. Condolences may be expressed at chiles-lamanfh.com
