Barbara Ann “Barb” Martz, age 88, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Lima Memorial Health System.
Barb was born June 9, 1929, in Lima, to the late Albert “Nelson” and Elsie (Purdy) Jones. On May 24, 1952, she married Robert G. “Bob” Martz who preceded her in death on September 14, 2012.
Barb was a 1947 graduate of Columbus Grove High School and she graduated in 1951 from Ohio Northern University. Barb was a school teacher for thirty-seven years, the last twenty-two years of her career were spent teaching at Shawnee Schools.
She is blessed with two children, Jeff R. (Joyce Holt) Martz of Knoxville, TN and Tanya L. (Michael) Ketcham of Harrod; four grandchildren, Bret (Michaela) Martz of Leesburg, VA, Bethany (Jay) Seals of Murfreesboro, TN, Craig (Kim) Ketcham of Royal Oak, MI; Nicholas (Sibyl) Ketcham of Herndon, VA; a great-granddaughter, Waverly Ketcham and a great-grandson on the way.
Other survivors include a sister, Diana (Larry) Talley of St. Cloud, FL; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kindle of Lima and Betty Coil of Leipsic and a brother-in-law, Doyle Martz of Landeck.
She is preceded in death by a sister, Ada (Lloyd) Martz.
Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Pastor Bryan Bucher will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Shawnee Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508.
