Andrew “Andy” Moore Ward Jr., age 68, passed away at 1:11 pm Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Lima Memorial Health System.

Andy was born November 24, 1952 in Yazoo City, MS, to Andrew Moore and Dora Mae (Clayborn) Ward Sr.

Andy was a 1970 graduate of Lima Senior High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree in English and his Law Degree from the Bowling Green University. He is a retired Air Force Veteran and had taught English at The Ohio State University, Lima Campus. Andy was an avid sports fan, loved music and loved to dance. He was a father figure to many and his family was very important to him.

He is survived by his mom, Dora Mae Ward of Lima; two children, Dwan Bryce Ward of Spencerville and Aiesha Mynell Ward of Indianapolis, IN; thirteen grandchildren, Anya, Alyzia, Aubrie, Aseani, Ayrrion, Ashlandd, Dalton, Christian, Shawn, DeVaghn, Jory, Azara and Daya; eight siblings, Barbara Hobbs, Ann Ward, Linda Ward, Carolyn Ward, Barry Ward, Kenny Ward, Vickie Callahan and Janice (Brit) Shaw; special nieces, Angela (Demetrius) Sims, LaShonda (Brandon) Toliver and a host of nieces and nephews who were very important to Andy; two special companions, Paulette Monford and Shirley Cooper and many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Andrew Moore Ward Sr.; infant daughter, Akiema Malika Ward and sister, Dorothy Johnson.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 pm Friday, October 22, 2021, at CHILES – LAMAN FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, SHAWNEE CHAPEL. Burial will be at a later date in Dayton National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Friday, October 22, prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
